Imagine Dundrum has great hopes for the old Shopping Centre site
/in News /by RebekahImagine Dundrum has prepared detailed proposals and ideas for the development of the Old Shopping Centre in Dundrum Village, as the time when the developer Hammerson will lodge a planning application for the site draws near. Our proposals draw on five years of engagement with the local community, discussions with architects and urban planners whose work is at the cutting edge of thinking on urban development, and our own research on how the rich heritage of the village with its future as a modern urban village. Imagine Dundrum believes that with sensitive planning and design, the new development will create a thriving, attractive and welcoming urban village, while maintaining a style and scale of building in tune with the unique character of the Village. We have submitted our proposals to Hammerson and look forward to a positive and constructive engagement ahead of the formal planning application.

The Dundrum Civic Centre comes a step nearer
/in News /by ID_Admin2021Imagine Dundrum is pleased to report that Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council has been granted €4 million euros by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, to advance the planning and design for the Dundrum Civic Centre.
In 2020, Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, following a strong campaign by Imagine Dundrum for a new Civic Centre, with a modern library, civic offices, and multi-functional community/cultural spaces, applied to government for almost €30million in grant funding to enable the building of the Dundrum Civic Centre.
Imagine Dundrum had hoped that the full funding for the build would have been granted at this point, the €4million funding will be used to prepare an integrated design for the Civic Centre, and this will lay the foundation for progressing the Civic Centre.
There is a road ahead, however, which involves Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council in securing a suitable site at the heart of the Village and the funding to build the Civic Centre.
We thank all the local people who have supported the campaign and we invite you to keep up the momentum and the pressure.
